Deuces America!

After sitting through meeting for the past five days, the team is now packing and flying out tomorrow. We leave the place we have been staying around 9:00 AM and our plane is scheduled to take off at 12:25. After all of the preparation and information we have gone through we are now a little more prepared to take this journey the Lord is leading us on. As more time passes I find myself experiencing almost every emotion you could possibly imagine. I have noticed that over the course of these five days the Lord has really softened my heart and has allowed me to see how important it is to ask for help sometimes
For most of my life I have been the person to jump right in and help someone in need. If someone needs a person to listen to them I am willing to listen no matter what they need to say. Something that God has really laid on my heart is that even though it is good to be the one who is there for others, it is ok to let others be there for me and help me out. This is something that really hit me hard. For some reason, it has always been hard for me to ask for help. I want to do things on my own and be the tough person. This is not a good attitude to have because God did not intend for us to do things on our own. God intended for us to build each other up and when we are struggling to ask others for help. Especially when in a different culture, a person is going to need help physically and emotionally, and spiritually. The Mathare Valley team is filled with amazing people who have all been given different gifts and talents. Already, we are able to go up to one another and ask for help or offer our help whether that be in a task or praying for one another. "Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful." Colossians 4:2

In saying this, I ask that you be praying for our team in our travels and also when we arrive in Mathare Valley. Also, I ask that you please keep the other interns in your prayers as well. There are 37 interns all together and all are going to many different places across the world. We cannot do what we need to do without the help of our supporters nor without the help of God. I thank you all so much for your prayers and support! Please continue praying throughout the summer.
